About 50 percent of the total land suitable for cultivation in India is dependent on rain water for irrigation. If it does not rain on time, farmers have to irrigate with tube wells.
In such a situation, it is a compulsion for the Farmer tubewell connection, but the farmers are troubled by the new rules of Haryana Electricity Corporation. The new rules have complicated the process of getting a tube well connection. This is the reason why farmers are opposing it.
According to the news of The Tribune, according to the new rules, no tubewell connection will be issued for the land falling in the command area of the canal. The command area of the canal is the area through which the water of the canal flows.
Apart from this, it has been made mandatory for the farmers to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Irrigation Department for taking tubewell connections.
However, there is a condition in this that if the NOC is not received, the fee for the new connection will be returned to the farmers.

Farmer tubewell connection Electricity corporation’s rule was also opposed in 2019
Arvind Jaglan, a farmer, says, “In 2019, the Electricity Corporation had made it mandatory for farmers to buy submersible motors from a particular vendor.
When the farmers opposed it, the corporation withdrew the decision. But now discoms have come up with new rules for issuing tubewell connections.
Farmer leaders also protested
On this decision, Bahadur Singh Charuni, leader of Bharatiya Kisan Union Charuni said, “The status of obtaining NOC from the Irrigation Department and cancellation of applications shows the slow attitude of the officials.
The farmers had deposited the security amount for the power lines four to five years ago. They were hoping to get the connection soon, but the new guideline has shattered their hopes.
Out of 85 thousand, only 10 thousand got connection
Sources say that out of 85,000 applicants who applied for tubewell connections, only 10,000 got the connection.
In Karnal, 2059 farmers had applied for connection. Of these, about 1900 had deposited the fees. But, their wait continues. A senior official of the Electricity Corporation said, “The guidelines regarding the command area of the canal are being reviewed after the farmers protested.”
