APEDA will provide special assistance for branding and promotion of products of Ladakh. Under this, there will be a lot of emphasis especially on the branding of Sea Buckthorn. Which is a fruit rich in Vitamin C, Omega and other essential nutrients.
Work is going on to make Ladakh a biological zone. Government agency APEDA has come forward to help in this work. Apart from this, special emphasis is also being laid on branding and marketing of Sea Buckthorn, a nutritious fruit grown in this region. This is expected to benefit the farmers of the area a lot. APEDA has also held a meeting in Ladakh in this regard.
Apart from this, officials of APEDA, Union Territory Horticulture, Agriculture, Commerce and Industry Departments and Defense Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR) to boost the export of agricultural products from here, increase the income of farmers as well as entrepreneurs. Working together with you to prepare a comprehensive action plan.

In this connection, after various rounds of talks in Ladakh recently, agricultural products such as fruits, sea buckthorn used for medicines, apricots and organic products have been identified to increase their production. Under this, work will be done to introduce identification system, increase the efficiency of farmers and add value to the products.
Under this, APEDA will provide technical assistance for capacity building of stakeholders including entrepreneurs, officials, farmers, branding and marketing of products of Ladakh and making Ladakh an ‘organic’ sector. APEDA will provide special assistance for branding and promotion of products of Ladakh. Under this, there will be a lot of emphasis especially on the branding of Sea Buckthorn. Target to create organic sector by 2025
APEDA officials during their interaction with the officials of Ladakh have emphasized on the need for minimum or no use of chemicals in agriculture. APEDA has urged for non-use of chemicals and fertilizers and introduction of identification system at the earliest to help in branding of products of Ladakh. Through this step, the goal of making Ladakh a biological zone by the year 2025 is to be achieved.
